ENC: It was wheat after all…not just gluten. Dr. Davis calls it a perfect, chronic poison
The “Emperor’s New Clothes” part of this blog offers a look at things that most people see & say, “Rubbish.” My hope is that we look at things a bit more closely than that…in this case, to see what a well-educated doctor has discovered & is taking some risks to share. It would be easy to understand why people – and wheat farmers – don’t want to listen to this. Here’s more, from Underground Health:
The world’s most popular grain is also the deadliest for the human metabolism. Modern wheat isn’t really wheat at all and is a “perfect, chronic poison,” according to Dr. William Davis, a cardiologist, author and leading expert on wheat.
Approximately 700 million tons of wheat are now cultivated worldwide making it the second most-produced grain after maize. It is grown on more land area than any other commercial crop and is considered a staple food for humans.
Whales: What happened when a beluga tried to talk to people….
This is a fascinating story about a juvenile beluga whale who suddenly began to imitate human speech. Echo? Repeating? Higher intelligence? An attempt at communicating with people? All that….?
Here’s the story about Noc, from Smithsonian.com.
Funnier: When faiths collide
I know you’ve been watching the World Cup this week, so you knew this was coming, in the runup to Sunday’s final between Argentina & Germany……
Starpeople: Chile reports UFO it can’t identify….
One of the reasons so many people listen to Leslie Kean about UFOs: She does her homework. You’ll get a sense of that in this report from the Huffington Post (who still, somewhat injudiciously, posts this under what it calls “Weird News”):
The government office investigating UFOs in Chile has released an analysis of two high quality photos showing what appear be genuine unidentified flying objects above a remote copper mine. The office, known as the CEFAA (Committee for the Studies of Anomalous Aerial Phenomena), is located within the Ministerial Department of Civil Aeronautics (DGAC), the equivalent of our FAA, under the jurisdiction of the Chilean Air Force. It is responsible for the analysis of selected reports of unexplained aerial phenomena in Chilean airspace, most of them from pilots and aviation personnel.
The photos were taken at the Collahuasi copper mine, more than 14,000 feet above sea level in the Andean plateau in the far north of Chile. An extremely remote location with low oxygen levels and unusually clear skies, the area is desolate and inhospitable.
Writings: Pope Francis’ prayer for the courage for peace…
Pope Francis prayed for peace in the Middle East alongside Israeli President Shimon Peres and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas onJune 8th at the Vatican. That this happened is the story….the two leaders in conflict embraced & exchanged a kiss on the cheek at the end of the visit. Here are Francis’ remarks:
Peacemaking calls for courage, much more so than warfare. It calls for the courage to say yes to encounter and no to conflict; yes to dialogue and no to violence; yes to negotiations and no to hostilities; yes to respect for agreements and no to acts of provocation.
All of this takes courage, great strength of spirit. History teaches that our strength alone does not suffice. We need the help of God. We do not renounce our responsibilities, but we do call on God in an act of supreme responsibility before our consciences and before our peoples. More than once we have been on the verge of peace, but the evil one, by varied means, has succeeded in blocking it.
That is why we are here, because we know and believe that we have heard a summons and we must respond. It is the summons to break the spiral of hatred and violence, and to break it by one word alone; the word “brother.” But to be able to utter this word we have to lift our eyes to heaven and acknowledge one another as children of one Father.
Thoughts: Ready. Now.
It’s a terrible thing, I think, in life to wait until you’re ready. I have this feeling now that actually no one is ever ready to do anything.
There’s almost no such thing as ready. There’s only now. And you may as well do it now. I mean, I say that confidently as if I’m about to go bungee jumping or something – I’m not. I’m not a crazed risk taker. But I do think that, generally speaking, now is as good a time as any.
